The Broke and the Bookish is a group of college aged and twenty somethings that have an unhealthy obsession with reading and would spend every last penny on books even if it meant skipping a few meals. We are the people  who lurk in the library, buy handbags based on how many books can be stashed in them, and who refer to characters in books as if they are personal friends.

We sought after other bookish college students to share in our love for reading and were brought together by the College Students group on Goodreads that was created in September 2008. Our desire to share great books with each other in and our tendency to be opinionated and passionate about all things book related naturally led to the birth of The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010.

The design of this book is just fantastic. I am not sure how I haven't read it yet, but everything about it is gorgeous. If you have a chance to check out a copy of it, you'll see what I mean.

Review: Scott Pilgrim books 2-6 - Bryan Lee O'Malley

So, Scott Pilgrim is a wacky kid. Well, he's 23 or 24, so not technically a kid, but the way he carries on you wouldn't be too sure. I enjoyed this series. I was laughing my head off pretty much the whole time I sped through these books. They were just really hilarious and completely bizarre. Sometimes they were a little confusing, like in the beginning of book 2. It seemed like each page was a different scene and that there was no real time frame, just a collection of moments. I loved Scott's memory scenes, or lack of memory scenes. He really didn't remember that much. If you liked the movie and you like reading comics then check these out.

Review: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life - Bryan Lee O'Malley

Scott Pilgrim is dating a high schooler. But when a girl named Ramona rollerblades through Scott's head while making deliveries for Amazon.ca Scott becomes obsessed. He really wants to get to know her even at the cost of losing his current girlfriend. Then he finds out that Ramona has seven evil-ex-boyfriends that Scott has to defeat in order to date her. You just have to do what you have to do.

So this was a really strange read. I mean it was really awesome but very strange too. I mean seven evil-ex-boyfriends who have superpowers? Then Scott Pilgrim has to fight them, but he's a really fantastic fighter even though he's pretty much a bum? This is a very unrealistic comic, but that doesn't make any less awesome. If you want a very strange fast read make sure you check this out and then after you finish the series you can check on the movie too. I mean who doesn't love Michael Cera?
